The Russian Ministry of Defence plans to purchase GAZ-3344-2 new multirole tractor vehicle 0608146.

The distinctive features of the two-module tracked crawler GAZ-3344 increase all-terrain mobility and the ability to cross more difficult obstacles than the one-module crawlers, by means of engine torque transfer to the tracks of the both modules, low specific ground pressure, preservation of reactive effort and speed, driver-controlled vertical articulation mechanism.

The all-metal body of the front module with thermal and noise insulation, parking heater Webasto, meant for 5 people, including the driver. The different options of the second module may be custom-made: the all-metal passenger module with thermal and noise insulation and parking heater Webasto.

The cargo platform has a payload up to 2 500 kg and can be used to carry a large range of equipment as emergency tools, firefighting module, drilling unit, telescopic boom lift, forest patrol complex, medical module, repair and maintenance station, etc.

The GAZ 3344 is equipped with a diesel engine Cummins, starting preheater Webasto, automatic gearbox Allison, and passenger car type steering control.

The crawler is equipped with on-road rubber-and-metal tracks with detachable rubber pads. The crawler can be operated at -500? to + 400?, as well as in mountains at the altitude of 4650m and stored outside. It can pass through water barriers using the tracked running gear.
