The SKY DRAGON 12 short-range SAM system is designed for key-point and field air-defense of small-size military objects and areas against mass air threats, such as aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, UAVs and precision-guided weapons, as well as reinforcing 35mm AA gun air-defense group coverage, forming the AWS2 missile/gun integrated air defense weapon system.

The SKY DRAGON 12 system consists of one Ku-band tracking-guidance radar, one electro-optic tracker and 12 ready-to-launch missiles. The vehicle receives aerial situation information and target designation from NORINCO FW2 FCS, IBIS80 3D target designation radar or superior command & control systems. Each SKY DRAGON 12 vehicle is capable of engaging 4 different targets simultaneously by firing 4 missiles within a matter of seconds.

Using a combat net radio, the launchers can be located 5km from the FW2 FCS. SKY DRAGON 12 is fully mobile and can be ready-to-fire at a new location 15 minutes after the vehicle comes to a stop.

Upgraded version of SKY DRAGON 12 system with on-vehicle search radar is also available, which ensures complete autonomous engagement capability with outstanding multi-target interception performance.
