In
the early 2000’s, a mobile reconnaissance system solution was provided
for the mountainous region of the Turkish Border. The System consists
of primary Sensor vehicles, Command Control and Communication Vehicles,
with peripheral units to establish an Integrated System network. RADAR and Electro Optical Units (thermal imagers, Day TV cameras, etc.) were used as primary sensors, Complementary ground sensors were also integrated in order to increase the effectiveness and coverage of the system. The critical units like the C2 SW, RADAR, EO, communication units were all developed by ASELSAN |

The
system includes the ACAR Ground Surveillance Radar with a range of 40
km and with the detection range for a man being up to 12 km, and the platform/mast
mounted EO/IR sensor, which includes a cooled thermal and day cameras,
and a laser rangefinder. These systems are integrated with the company’s
software, while the voice and data can be transmitted through its range
of software-defined radios. Nevertheless, the options for the customers
include the integration of various other communication and sensor subsystems. Besides the successful deliveries to the domestic market, ASELSAN has also introduced the system to the international market. As the system architecture designer and command control software developer for the European Union FP7 Project “TALOS”, ASELSAN has received a recognized reputation with the successful completion of the project in time. |

The system
has already been exported to the Uruguayan Army, in October 2013, in order
to provide mobile Reconnaissance System (ARSLAN), integrated to Government
furnished Land Rovers, for the security and surveillance of the Uruguayan
Borders. The ARSLAN Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle will consist
of C2 SW, ACAR Ground Surveillance RADAR and Electro Optical Systems,
developed by ASELSAN and other Power, IT units, telescopic mast, etc.
ASELSAN will also provide a Main Command Control SW, to be used in the
Operations/C2 Center at the headquarters to provide the users with an
extended situational awareness along the borderline. ASELSAN proposes adaptable and modular system solutions that can be tailored according to the emerging threats, mission requirements and operational scenarios following a detailed analysis of the user requirements. According to the information received from the company representatives, a key approach to success is the logistic support that is being provided to the customers. Throughout the life-cycle of its systems, ASELSAN provides integrated logistic support to guarantee system availability and meet the requirements at all time. Moreover, with the open architecture structure of its systems ASELSAN aims at standardization of products while choosing the system components, seek to decrease logistic support effort by considering the use of existing products in the inventory and strive for interoperability of ASELSAN solution with user’s existing security systems if any available. |
