Turkish army has increased security measures between southeastern provinces of Sirnak and Mardin bordering Syria since Wednesday, deploying 20 tanks in Nusaybin town of Mardin province, along the Kurdish populated Qamishli town of Syria, the report said.

Several military vehicles carrying heavy weapons were also deployed between the towns of Cizre and Nusaybin on Thursday, while hundreds of Turkish soldiers were stationed every 50 meters along the border, the report added.

The army could be taking measures in order to prevent massive influx of Syrian refugees fleeing clashes, the report said.

As clashes between Islamic State militants and the People's Protection Units intensified in the Syrian city of Ayn al-Arab, also know as Kobane, in northern Syria in recent months, the Turkish Armed Forces have stepped up security measures on the border line.
