Ukroboronprom’s products made a core of military parade dedicated to Independence Day of Ukraine, as stated by Roman Romanov, Ukroboronprom General Director. According to the executive, the particular role on the parade was played by BTR-4E and BTR-3E1 armored personnel carriers.

Remarkably, they are developed by Kharkiv Morozov Machine-Building Design Bureau (hereinafter – SE ‘KMDB’), but their mainstream production is established at both Malyshevplant and Kyiv Armored Plant. “These vehicles are the support for Ukrainian forces.

High firing efficiency and reliable armor protection are key specifications of these facilities, which are tested under the conditions of real fight activities.” – Mr. Romanov reported. He informed that referring the information received from BTR-4E crews, the vehicles do provide the reliable protection against hits made from rocket propelled grenade launchers and large-caliber gun machines. The presence of the APCs there qualitatively increased a security level of NATO manpower. The ability to perform in any time the aimed firing from BTR-4E gun, machine-gun or grenade launcher significantly increases the possibilities of Ukrainian troops.

Mr. Romanov underlined that majority of the equipment has been already supplied to soldiers. Besides those three vehicles, they created BTR-3M2 – a new mortar modification made on the basis of BTR-3E1. A mortar, being mounted on APC, significantly increases the mobility and combat capacity of compartments.

The issue concerning safety transportation of wounded people towards the medical institutions is being solved in the Ukroboronprom. Thus, three samples of BMM-4S armored medical vehicle on the basis of BTR-4E have been presented on the parade as well. BMM-4S can transport up to 4 seriously wounded persons on the stretchers or 2 seriously and 8 slightly wounded persons accordingly. The modification was developed by Kharkiv Morozov Machine-Building Design Bureau, and the mainstream production is implemented at Kharkiv Special Machine Plant. Naturally, it is high possibility that state testing will take place in parallel with the implementation of certain tasks in ATO area.

At the military parade for the Independence Day of Ukraine, two new 4x4 APC vehicles were also presented for the first time to the public, the KRAZ Spartan and the KRAZ Cougar which are now in service with the Ukrainian armed forces.

These vehicles are produced locally by AutoKrAZ in partnership with Streit Group, a world leader in the development and manufacturing of security and military vehicles with headquarter based in United Arab Emirates.

The Spartan is a 4x4 LAV (Light Armoured Vehicle) designed and manufactured by the Company Streit Group. The vehicle is based on the FORD F550 with fully re-designed and chassis-mounted body by Streit design and development.

The Cougar 4x4 is a light armoured vehicle personnel carrier designed and manufactured by the Defence Company Streit Group. The Cougar is based on a Toyota chassis adapted to be used as all-terrain military vehicle. The Cougar is an excellent fighting platform with turret capabilities and options for weapon stations. It is ideally suited to returning fire in a convoy escort assault scenario. Cougar is an ideal APC that handles well on rough terrains and facilitates the users with ultimate maneuverability on and off-road.

At the Ukrainian military parade, the KRAZ Cougar was armed with an AGS-17 40mm automatic grenade launcher. The KRAZ Spartan was fitted with an unmanned turret armed with one 7.62mm machine gun and four anti-tank missile launchers.
