Ukroboronprom unveils its new "Sarmat" combat module
Ukrainian state-owned conglomerate Ukroboronprom and the Construction Office "Luch" recently unveiled the Sarmat Combat Module. This new combat system is designed to equip number of armored vehicles, small ships, boats, and also coast guard motorboat. Sarmat Combat Module is designed to destroy both stationery and mobile armoured targets.

Ukroboronprom’s General Director Roman Romanov while addressing to delegations of the conference in the framework of "Weaponry and Security 2014" Exhibition stated: “We are already using the possibilities of Ukrainian intellectual and scientific production potential as much as possible as to create the weaponry samples in accordance with partner order. Still, there are a lot of newest developments to be created."

The Sarmat combat module is used to hit static and moving modern armoured targets that have combined, spaced or monolithic armour, including explosive reactive armour, as well as pinpoint targets like permanent fire positions, tank in a trench, lightly armoured objects, hovered helicopters, waterborne targets and manpower of enemy at any time of day or night.

The SARMAT system comprises a combat module consisting of a rotating platform with launching rails for missiles, a power unit, a guidance device and a SELEX ES Hawk SLX Thermal Imaging Camera. It consists of four guided missiles RK-3, or two RK-2S and a machine gun from Manroy Engineering. Operational firing range while shooting is 1.8 km for the machine gun, 2.5 km for RK-3 missiles and 5 km for RK-2S missiles.
