According
to a Chinese newspaper report the Russian-made Pantsir-S1
air defense system is in service with the Vietnamese army. A picture releases
on the Chinese newspaper website shows a Pantsir-S1 somewhere in Vietnam.

The
Pantsir-S1 on the picture is mounted on trailer which
can be towed by a military truck.
In May 2013, another picture releases on Internet, shows a Pantsir-S1 travels on a road somewhere in Vietnam. However, all information is speculations of the Chinese newspaper. There is not yet any official information from the authorities of Vietnam. The Pantsir-S1 (SA-22 Greyhound NATO code name) is an air defense missile-gun system designed by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau of Tula, Russia, and is manufactured by the Ulyanovsk Mechanical Plant, Ulyanovsk, Russia. The Pantsir-S1 is armed with two 2A38M 30mm automatic anti-aircraft guns developed from the two-barreled 30mm GSh-30 gun, coupled with twelve 57E6 surface-to-air missiles on launchers. The Pantsir-S1 is mounted on a military truck ural-5323. A shelter-based version of the Pantsir-S1 is also available. |
