"The Scorpion LShA-2B’s delivery to the Russian Army will commence in Q4/2016. The delivery of the first batch has been put off until 2016 due to a delay in the trials of the armored vehicle. The first and second batches will be fielded together," Starun said.

He noted that the number of the vehicles ordered by the Russian Armed Forces could grow by several times if the defense procurement program was adjusted.

The Scorpion LShA-2B armored combat vehicle is designed for special operators. There are two versions - one armored and the other soft-skinned. There are plans for deriving the command, communications and casualty evacuation versions from the baseline model. The Scorpion can mount a machinegun module.

The Scorpion LShA-2B is based on the chassis of the Skorpion-2M 4x4 light tactical vehicle designed and manufactured by the Russian Defense Company Zashchita.

In October 2011, the Russian Defence industry unveils a new light tactical vehicle, the Skorpion-2M. A video of the vehicle was show on the press agency web site RIA Novosti.

The Scorpion LShA-2B is an armoured version of the Skorpion-2M which provides a protection against firing of small arms and explosion under the chassis of 0.6 kg of TNT.

The Skorpion LShA-2B can be armed with a 7.62mm light machine gun mounted on a swivel station and a 12.7mm machine gun mounted on 360° or 3/4 circular station.
