Every year, Russia holds a military parade in Red Square to commemorate the anniversary of the capitulation of Nazi Germany in 1945, which formally ended hostilities in the Second World War in Europe.

In addition to the new Bumerang armoured , the May 9 parade will feature Russia's newest military hardware – such as advanced Armata T-14 main battle tank, Kurganets-25, Typhoon-U armored personnel carrier, 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV 152mm self-propelled howitzer and Kornet-D missile systems.

The Boomerang is a new development of 8x8 armoured vehicle personnel carrier launched by the Russian defense industry to replace the old BTR family used by the Russian armed forces.

The first drawing of the Boomerang released on Internet shows that the vehicle is fitted with a remotely controlled weapon station armed with one 2A42 30mm automatic cannon. A 7.62mm coaxial machine gun is mounted on the right of the main armament. On each side of the turret, there is two launchers for anti-tank guided missiles KORNET-EM.

The Boomerang layout is very similar to modern wheeled combat vehicle with the power pack at the front, driver front left, the turret in the middle, and the troop’s compartment at the rear. The troops enter and leave via a single hydraulic doors in the hull rear. The Boomerang can carry a total of 10 soldiers, including driver, commander, gunner and 7 infantrymen.
