The opening ceremony was attended by all the authorities of the Colombian armed and security forces, international delegations, the Ministry of Defense and the Général Patrick Colas des Francs co-organizer of this event in partnership with the Colombian Company Corferias.
Mister Colas des Francs is the CEO of Eurosatory, the largest defense exhibition of Defense which will take place in Paris (France) in June 2016. South America defense market is increasingly becoming active because of the need to modernize military systems and economic growth to fund procurement. Latest report on the regional market, said counter-insurgency and surveillance equipment tops the shopping list of many countries as they battle guerrilla groups, some of which gain funding through narcotics trafficking. The Colombian government expects to maintain its armed forces after reaching a peace agreement in late September with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), but the goal of the Colombian Ministry of Defense is to maintain the operational capabilities of all the military units in the country. October 13, 5015, Colombia's Congress has approved a 215.9 trillion peso ($74.2 billion) budget for 2016, an increase of 2.5 percent. Colombia is almost entirely dependent on foreign suppliers for advanced technology defense equipment. Indeed, while the country’s domestic defense industry caters to low level defense needs such as grenades, machine guns, rifles, aircraft parts, and MRO activities, Colombia relies on imports for its aircraft, missiles, engines, and sensors. At ExpoDefensa 2015, some Colombian Defense Companies presents new innovations and technologies in the field of defense and security as armored vehicles, individual combat equipment , communication equipment and more. After the first day at ExpoDefensa, we can say that ExpoDefensa 2015 has already achieved a great success with many visitors of Colombian armed forces and internal security forces but also foreign delegations from many countries of South America. |
