The outfits were delivered, in the first place, to units making part of the District commander’s mobile reserve and accomplishing counter-terrorism tasks, he said. It was reported earlier that the St. Petersburg-based company Radioavionika had developed a new commander personal computer to use it as part of the Ratnik individual outfit.

The operational evaluation of the AK-12 and the A-545 assault rifles designed for fielding under the Ratnik program will be completed by the end of 2015.

The Ratnik gear may be also equipped with an identification friend-or-foe system in the form of special symbols that can be seen using Russian-made optics only.
