Three missile regiments of Russian Strategic Missile Forces armed with Yars RS-24 ICBM missile.
Three missile regiments of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces have been rearmed with the Yars RS-24 ICBM Intercontinental Ballistic Missile systems in 2014. This statement was made by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov.

“This year, we have rearmed three missile regiments of the Strategic Missile Forces with the Yars systems. In addition, the infrastructure of the Strategic Missile Forces has been modernized,” Mr. Gerasimov told journalists on Monday.

The Chief of the General Staff also said that four Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic long-range aviation aircraft have been modernized and have entered duty in 2014.

It’s worth noting that the Yars missile complex has an intercontinental range of up to 11,000 kilometers, is equipped with a reentry warhead and maneuvering units with individual targeting, and is characterized by superior maneuverability.

The Yars RS-24 Is a Russian-made mobile nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile which can be mounted on truck carrier or deployed in silos.

The mobile system Yars RS-24 is mounted on a MZKT-79221 truck 16x16. The MZKT-79221 chassis was proposed as the base for a new yet more powerful strategic complex of Topol-M with the RS-12M2 missiles with a weight of 47t and a length of about 18m, warheads included.

The Yars RS-24 is expected to have a minimum range of 2,000 km, and a maximum range of 10,500 km. The RS-24 missile can be armed with up to 10 warheads.
