The Mbombe 6 represents the pinnacle of land system technologies and can be modified to serve as either a combat vehicle or an armored personnel carrier. The vehicle was developed to meet the increasing demand for multi-role, high mobility and mine hardened platforms, and for the changing demands of the global battlefield. The vehicle is prized for its sophisticated adaptability, unparalleled protection and affordability.
According to user requirements a variety of turret systems up to 30mm caliber ranging from overhead weapon stations to one man turret systems can be integrated on the Mbombe 6. One of the key features of the Mbombe 6 is that 80% of its technologies and components are shared with the wider Mbombe family, including the 4 X 4 and the 8 X 8, presenting significant cost benefits due to greater efficiencies and significant savings in maintenance and logistical support. |

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence Industry (MODIAR) placed its first order for Paramount’s armoured vehicles in 2008 and the company has since become a key partner for developing the country’s defence industrial capability. Paramount Group has supplied Azerbaijan with its Marauder and Matador Mine Protected Vehicles (MPVs), which are assembled at a jointly operated factory in Baku. The factory is also responsible for in-service support of the vehicles.
The CEO of Paramount Industrial Holdings, John Craig said: “As a privileged partner to the government of Azerbaijan, we’re proud to showcase the Mbombe 6 which is arguably the most advanced combat vehicle in its class. Combining innovative design, high protection levels and great mobility the entire family of Mbombe vehicles represents our relentless pursuit of innovation.” |

Ben Jansen, CEO of Paramount Combat Systems, said: “Mbombe 6’s great strength is its high commonality with the wider family of Mbombe ICVs, including the 4 x 4 and 8 x 8. Over 80% of components across the vehicles are shared, reducing life costs and making for easier training and logistics. This commonality relates to both the driveline aggregates, as well as the fact that all three vehicles utilise a ‘conventional’ or ‘in-line’ automotive driveline configuration, positioning the powerpack at the front of the vehicle and along its centre line.
“This configuration results in far greater efficiency in terms of the transfer of power from the powerpack to the wheels, as the loss of power associated with a second transfer gearbox necessary for ‘unconventional’ drivelines, such as with side-engined vehicles, is eliminated. This presents a unique opportunity for our global market, affording a prospective end-user of all three vehicles significant savings in the areas of maintenance and logistical support.” Paramount Combat Systems has developed and produced a broad range of advanced armored and mine protected vehicles that are in use from South America to Central Asia. Global demand for Paramount Group innovations like the Mbombe has enabled the company to grow significantly in recent years and attract leading global strategic partners. The Mbombe family capitalizes on South Africa’s expertise in asymmetric warfare technologies. Key features of the Mbombe 6 include: - Low silhouette and flat bottom blast protected hull - Large payload which covers weapon system, ammunition, crew and supplies - Kerb weight of 17.3 tonnes - Powered by a turbo charged diesel engine - Six speed automatic transmission - Max speed of 110km/h - Operating range: 1,000 km - High levels of ballistic and mine protection - Wide range of turrets and weapon stations can be integrated - Continuous operation from - 50° to + 50º Celcius - Large internal volume due to position of powerpack Craig concluded: “South Africa has been leading the world in armored vehicle and land mine protected technologies for decades and we’re proud to share this expertise with our partner, Azerbaijan. Since 2008 we have worked together to build defence industrial capability in the country and we look forward to strengthening this partnership for the benefit of security and economic growth in the coming years.” |
