The Agrale Marruá was demonstrated at Eurosatory 2016’s live demo. The open top vehicle mounts a three metre mast with a selection of electro-optical devices on top. This could be video camera, low-light TV, image intensification or infra-red and shows the versatility of the possible options.
After the bankruptcy of Engesa (Specialised Engineers SA) in early 1990, former employees of the company acquired the rights to the EE-4/EE-12 utility vehicle and collaborated with Agrale to develop an improved version. The specifications were met for a ½ ton 4x4 VTNE (Viatura de Transporte Não Especializada) (Non-specialised transport) for the Brazilian Armed Forces, which was used to replace the jeeps already in service. Agrale invested $11million into the project and the Marruá was accepted into service on 27 July 2005. The vehicle base was designed with durability and ease of maintenance in mind. It was also subjected to 60,000 miles (97,000km) of testing to ensure reliability. This is why it has been selected for service with the Brazilian Army, Brazilian Marine Corps, and the Armies of Ecuador and Argentina, seeing service on the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Haiti. Other variants include an ambulance, command and control post, and can be mounted with a variety of weapon systems. |
