The BKM is based on the Soviet-made BRDM-2 chassis but using a new design for the hull. The hull of the vehicle has been lengthened and there is one single door on each side. As the original BRDM-2, the BLM is fully amphibious propelled in the water at a maximum speed of 10km/h by two propellers mounted on each side of the hull. When the propellers are not used, they are stored in the hull.

There is a large door in the rear that opens to the right and has a day vision periscope. On each side of the hull there is one single day vision periscope and one firing port.

The BKM has a total weight of 8 tons and used a V-shaped hull design to offer more protection gainst mine blast. The crew compartment is protected against firing of small arms 7.62mm caliber and mine blast.

The BKM is motorized with a General Motors engine developing 215 hp. The vehicle can run at a maximum speed of 95 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 500 km.

The BKM is fitted with a turret very similar to the Soviet-made BRDM-2 armed with one 14.5mm heavy machine and one 7.62mm coaxial machine gun mounted on the right side. There is two smoke grenade dischargers on each side of the turret.

The prototype of the new BKM will be tested in the next few months.
