"The upgrade of Buk air defense missile systems to the Buk-MB version is under way for Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces," the source said.
"The systems will be modernized later than scheduled as Azerbaijan does not have enough money," the source added. "A number of Russian-made components are being used to upgrade the air defense missile systems," the source said without specifying them. It became known at the ADEX-2014 international armament exhibition in Baku that Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces had received two battalion sets of Buk-MB air defense missile systems with six launchers and three launcher-loaders each. The TSP Design Bureau in Belarus is upgrading Buk air defense missile systems. Kazakhstan and other countries are showing interest in the Buk-MB version. In May on the MILEX-2005 exposition in Minsk, Belarus presented their own modification of 9K37 Buk called Buk-MB. On 26 June 2013 an exported version of Buk-MB was displayed on a military parade in Baku. It included the new 80K6M Ukrainian-build radar on an MZKT chassis (instead the old 9S18M1) and the new Russian-build missile 9M317 (as in Buk-M2). |
