Belarus to upgrade MZKT-7930 multipurpose wheeled chassis
Belarusian JSC Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant 'Volat' (Russian acronym: MZKT) is planning to upgrade MZKT-7930 wheeled 8x8 multi-purpose chassis, which is used in several Russian military mobile systems. It was revealed by the MZKT`s press department.

"The protection level of the upgraded MZKT-7930 chassis will be increased. The company is intending to turn the vehicle into a 'smart car'. The chassis is planned to be equipped with information-management system, which will allow to receive and process information on the condition of the main components and aggregates and on the technical malfunctions of the vehicle.The installation of additional videocameras will reduce the drivers` fatigue and facilitiate the effectiveness of driving, especially in harsh conditions (night, fog, dustiness, etc.). MZKT is developing a Level 3 STANAG 4569 (protection against armour-piercing 7.62mm bullets) armoured crew cabin for the upgraded MZKT-7930 chassis. The cabin will feature mine protection in future," an MZKT`s official representative said.

MZKT-7930 8x8 wheeled chassis is used in several Russian military vehicles, including Iskander (NATO reporting name: SS-26 Stone) tactical missile, Bal (SSC-6 Sennight) and Bastion (SSC-5 Stooge) mobile coastal defense, S-400 (SA-21 Growler) air defense systems, The family comprises three chassis, namely, MZKT-793000 (22.4 t capacity), MZKT-741500 (17.8 t capacity), MZKT-7930-300 (22.4 t capacity). The vehicles are equipped with Russian YaMZ-846 (500 h.p.) diesel engine.
