Certain vehicles will be improved based on the results of the expedition, he added.
"Today, the Russian Defense Ministry and defense enterprises have completed their expedition in the Arctic aboard modern upgraded and promising motorized vehicles," Bulgakov said. "The group of vehicles and the entire personnel have returned to Bronnitsy in the Moscow Region. Defense enterprises will receive recommendations to improve certain military hardware items," he added. According to the deputy defense minister, the main goals of the expedition that aimed to prove operational characteristics and capabilities of new vehicles in the Arctic "have been fully achieved." "The Russian Defense Ministry has tested KamAZ, Trekol and Ural vehicles, army snow-going vehicles, as well as quickly-assembled inflatable shelters," Bulgakov said. "In all, the Russian Defense Ministry has tested about 20 items of military hardware," he added. The expedition started on February 4 when the group of vehicles left Bronnitsy and headed for Naryan-Mar in the Nenets Autonomous District. The vehicles crossed five Russian regions and covered a distance of more than 6,000 kilometers (3,728 miles). This is the second expedition the Russian Defense Ministry has performed. Last year, new military hardware was tested on the Rybachiy Peninsula in the Murmansk Region in north Russia. |
