Eurosatory 2016: Supacat introduces the LRV400 Mk2 at the EMEA market | |||
Stelios Kanavakis Senior Defence Analyst Supacat has introduced the all-new LRV400 Mk2 Light Reconnaissance Vehicle to the EMEA market, during Eurosatory 2016. The new vehicle was designed for special forces operations in harsh environments, for border patrol or strike forces, and in order to fill the market gap for an agile off-road vehicle between HMT series and quad bikes. |

The LRV400 Mk2 offers a high degree of versatility, as it can be converted from a 4x4 to a 6x6 vehicle, to allow for an increase in payload and to meet the different operational requirements. Its size and weight allow its transportation inside a Boeing CH-47 Chinook, while fully equipped and loaded. The vehicle’s design was launched in 2012 but since then, it has been evolved reaching the final result in the form of the LRV400 Mk2. The vehicle is ITAR free and can be supported via the Supacat’s global supply network of spare parts. Having been developed with a common user interface as the HMT, Supacat has maximized interoperability and minimized training requirements. The users can add a range of lightweight armour solutions, weapons and communications systems. The vehicle features a front and rear independent double wishbone air suspension, offering variable ride height and lock out – bump stops for stable firing and high power to weight ratio. Power is provided by a V6, 3 lt turbo diesel, with an output of 256 bhp and a 600 Nm torque. It also has an eight-speed automatic transmission and high and low permanent four-wheel drive, with centre differential lock. Cross-axle diff locks are also available as an option. |
