French Company Soframe unveils its new special forces vehicle called Venpir at Eurosatory 2016, the international land and airland defence and security exhibition in Paris, France. The Venpir uses a standard military truck chassis, but the vehicle is fully developed and designed by Soframe.

The Venpir is open-top vehicle which can carried a total of 4/5 military personnel. The crew is protected by a tubular frame anti roll-bar. An anti-roll bar is a part of many automobile suspensions that helps reduce the body roll of a vehicle during fast cornering or over road irregularities. The Venpir is motorized with a 210 Kw Diesel engine with a tank capacity of 310 l. The vehicle can run at a maximum speed of 110 km/h. The vehicle has a total weight of 11,500 kg. The Venpir has a ballistic STANAG 4569 Level 1, (7.62×51mm or 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition at 30 meters with velocity 833 m/s) and blast protection against hand grenades, unexploded artillery fragmenting submunitions, and other small anti personnel explosive devices detonated under the vehicle. The Soframe Venpir can be fitted with a full range of accessories including latest hardware and communication equipment. The vehicle is fitted with a ring mount mounted at the center of the crew compartment which can be armed with a 7.62mm or a 12.7mm machine gun. The Venpir 4x4 can negotiate a gradient of 60% and side slopes of 30%. It can cross natural or man-made obstacles up to 400mm high and fording depth of 1.5m without preparation, and have a turning radius of 8.25m. |
