The Defense Company Kerametal from Slovakia has unveiled the third generation of its 4x4 armoured vehicle Aligator under the name of Aligator Master II at the International Defense Exhibition IDEB which was held in Bratislava from the 10 to 12 May 2016.

The development of the Aligator began in 1995 with the first of three prototypes being completed in November 1996. The Aligator first generation is in service with the Slovak army since 2005. The New Aligator is one meter longer to increase the number of soldiers which can be carried by the vehicle. It can now accommodate a total of nine to ten military personnel. The previous version of Aligator has only the capacity to carried 4 soldiers including driver and commander. The Aligator Master II has a total weight of 3,200 kg with a maximum payload of 750 kg. The vehicle can reach a maximum road speed of 130 km/h. The third generation of Aligator 4x4 armoured vehicle is fully designed and developed by Slovak engineers and is also manufactured in Slovakia. At IDEB 2016, the Aligator Master II was fitted a remotely operated weapon station armed with a 7.62mm machine mounted in the top of the hull. There is also six smoke grenade dischargers mounted at the front of the roof. According CEO of Kerametal, Igor Junas, several foreign countries have already shown interest for the new Aligator Master II, mainly from Asia. The company has already recorded its first orders. |
