The Norwegian Company Kongsberg has extensive experience with remote weapon stations, and has delivered more than 17,000 units since 2001. The PROTECTOR MCRWS has been developed over the last six years, based on the expertise KONGSBERG has gained delivering remote weapon systems to 17 nations over the last 15 years.

The Kongsberg Protector Medium Caliber Remote Weapon Station, Protector MCRWS, is a lightweight turret solution with a flexible structure that can be tailored to meet specific vehicle signature and protection requirements. The medium caliber cannon and coaxial machine gun combined with optional Javelin anti-tank missile and non-lethal effects provides the vehicle crew the necessary tools to engage in a wide spectrum of situations.

The U.S. Army has selected the Konsberg turret to increase the firepower of the Stryker to destroy lightly armored vehicles. The unit that initiated the lethality upgrade is stationed in Germany, and its Strykers could be dispatched quickly to any flashpoints along the border with the Baltic states and Russia in case of conflict. The 8x8 Stryker combat vehicle is the US Army’s Stryker Brigade Combat Team primary combat and combat support platform. Significantly lighter and more transportable than existing tanks and armored vehicles, the Stryker fulfills an immediate requirement to provide Combatant Commanders with a strategically deployable (C-17/C-5) and operationally deployable (C-130) brigade capable of rapid movement anywhere on the globe in a combat ready configuration.
