The Polaris quad provides individual, all-terrain mobility to deployed Reconnaissance and Special Operations troops in all-terrain area to perform a wide range of missions. The quad vehicle is extremely flexible and internally transportable within rotary wing assets, and they allow fully combat-equipped soldiers to move around the battlefield rapidly in terrain not easily navigated by larger, heavier vehicles.

The driver of the Polaris quad is not armed with the standard assault rifle FAMAS of the French Army but with the HQ 416 mostly used by the French Special Forces units. The Heckler & Koch HK416 is an assault rifle designed and manufactured by German firearms manufacturer Heckler & Koch in the 1990s.

The HK 416 is a 5.56mm caliber gas-operated assault rifle. The weapon is fitted with a folding stock and uses 30-round magazines. It is compatible with standard NATO 5.56 mm magazines.
