New KDMD armoured engineering vehicle unveiled at Army 2016
|

|
At Army 2016, the Russian company Central Factory for the Railway Machinery OJSC presents a new armoured vehicle designed for engineering tasks, the KDMD. The KDMD engineering vehicle is designed for preparation and maintenance of roads and other ground areas, including under enemy’s fire.

In 2013, the Central Factory for the Railway Machinery OJSC advanced the initiative to develop a new vehicle based on the L-538 loader of Liebherr company.
For now, an experimental prototype has been developed and is now being tested, with test campaign completion scheduled for the second quarter of 2017. Compared to the L-538, the KDMD features lower weight and dimensions and increased travel speed. The reliability and maintainability have been improved. The vehicle’s protection has been improved with armoured plates protecting cabin, main units and hydraulic drives. |
