Poland to acquire six Pilica Very Short-Range Air Defence System

|
Poland signed a Us$ 180 Mn contract for the delivery of six batteries of the PSR-A Pilica very short-range air defence (VSHORAD) missile-and-gun system from Zaklady Mechaniczne Tarnow (ZMT).

The PSR-A Pilica battery is a very short range air defence system. it consists of 6 firing positions working in network command system with the ability to operate in automatic mode. Firing positions are designed for destruction of air targets et low and medium altitudes by using homing missiles GROM and 23 mm artillery shells
The Pilica system has been developed to meet a Polish Air Force requirement for an air transportable air defence system. The PSR-A Pilica battery includes 6 ZUR-23-2SP Jodek-SP missile-and-gun systems, a command vehicle, 6 towing trucks, 2 ammunition trucks 2 transport trucks and a ZDPSR Sola mobile radar station. Each ZUR-23-2SP Jodek-SP fire unit is armed with two Grom man portable air defence systems (MANPADS) as their primary effector and two 23 mm 2A14 cannons short-range air defence. The first two PSR-A Pilica batteries should be delivered PSR-A Pilica in 2020. The PSR-A Pilica system has been developed ZMT,in collaboration with other Polish compnies: CRW Telesystem-Mesko, Jelcz, PCO, PIT-RADWAR, Prexer, and WZL. |
