Raytheon awarded a $7.8 million contract for Excalibur 155mm projectiles
According to UPI, Raytheon has been awarded on Friday (July 1) a $7.8 million modification to a foreign military sales contract for Excalibur 155mm projectiles.

Work will be done in Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, Massachusetts, California, Minnesota, Utah, New York, Sweden and England.

The estimated completion date is June 2017.

The Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity.

The Excalibur projectile can be used by land and naval forces, Raytheon said, and is compatible with every howitzer on which it has been tested.

It impacts at a radial miss distance of less than two meters from its target and provides accurate first-round effects at all ranges in all weather conditions.

It also extends the reach of .39-caliber artillery to 40 kilometers and .52-caliber artillery to more than 50 kilometers.
