This is the second regiment set delivered to the Defense Ministry this year, the press office added.

"In accordance with the state defense contract, the Almaz-Antey Corporation has delivered a new regiment set of the S-400 Triumf air defense missile system to the Defense Ministry ahead of schedule," the press office said.

As Almaz-Antey Corporation Head Yan Novikov said, elements of the S-400 systems are being delivered to the integration facility at the Kapustin Yar training range in the Astrakhan Region in south Russia.

Before the military hardware is accepted by the Defense Ministry, it will be moved to the training range for test firing against practice missiles.

According to Novikov, the Almaz-Antey Corporation is expected to deliver five regiment sets of the S-400 air defense missile system in 2016.

The Almaz-Antey Corporation said in early July that it had delivered the first regiment set of the S-400 air defense missile system to the Defense Ministry.

Russia’s Armed Forces will operate 16 regiment sets of the S-400 system by the end of 2016.

The S-400 is a Russian-made long range surface-to-air missile systems produced by Almaz-Antey. The S-400 Trumph is intended to engage, ECM, radar-picket, director area, reconnaissance, strategic and tactical aircraft, tactical and theatre ballistic missiles, medium-range ballistic missiles and other current and future air attack assets. Depending on the type of missiles used it has a maximum range of 400 km, and it can intercep targets at a altitude of up to 30 km.
