"There are plans to set up six tank companies in air assault brigades and divisions, two UAV companies operating attack drones as well and two electronic warfare companies," the general said.
According to Shamanov, he will make such a proposal at a meeting of the Defense Ministry’s board on January 29. According to the commander, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov will hold a meeting of the Military and Industrial Commission’s board on Airborne Force rearmament at the Volgograd Tractor Plant on January 20. "We will sum up the results of the first five-year plan and set up goals that should be achieved in accordance with the second five-year plan considering development instructions in part 3 of the 2025 program," Shamanov said. Shamanov said in the summer of 2015 that the Airborne Force was planning to set up six tank companies. According to him, tank battalions are expected to be established in all Airborne Force large units. |
