"The Russian Armed Forces operate advanced and upgraded military equipment and Airborne Force units are furnished with equipment that allows them to accomplish missions anywhere both in the daytime and at night," Velickovic said during the maneuvers.

"Of course, Russian military equipment is suitable for accomplishing tasks assigned to Serbian special operation units. We could see this in 2014 when we used the D-10 parachute to perform jumps," he added.

In particular, the general praised the high mobility and firepower of the BMD-2 airborne fighting vehicle "with a powerful 30mm gun, a good machinegun, a big ammunition load and perfect armor."

The BMD-2 is an armoured airborne infantry fighting combat tracked vehicle designed by the Russian defense Company Arkadyi Shabalin. The first prototype of the BMD-2 was completed in 1985 and first seen in 1988.

The BMD-2 is fitted with a one man turret armed with a 30 mm 2A42 stabilized cannon. An AT-4 Spigot or AT-5 Spandrel anti-tank guided missile launcher is mounted on the right side of the turret roof.

"Russian aerial reconnaissance systems, in particular, unmanned aerial vehicles and drones that can be used at the tactical and operational levels, are noteworthy too. I cannot but note the Russian Arbalet and D-10 parachutes," Velickovic said.

According to the general, Serbia is interested in exchanging combat experience with Russian paratroopers as the Russian and Serbian airborne forces have quite similar combat tactics.
