"The planned purchase and supply of new 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV into the artillery brigades will begin in the near future," Matveevsky said.
Russia's state-of-the-art Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled guns will serve as the blueprint for robotized artillery systems in the future, chief of the Land Force's missile and artillery troops, added the Major General Mikhail Matveevsky. The 2S35 prototype unveiled in May 2015 was based on the T-72/90 chassis, though the Armata platform will be presumably used in the future. The 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV is designed to replace the 2S19 MSTA-S self-propelled artillery howitzers in service with the Russian armed forces since many years. The 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV tracked self-propelled howitzer is armed with the new 2A88 cannon 152mm which is under development. The 2S35 can fire a wide range of munitions, including standard and rocket-assisted HE-FRAG projectiles, cluster projectiles with anti-tank submunitions, jammer carrying projectiles. It has a maximum firing range of 30 km with standard ammunitions and around 40 km with rocket-assisted projectile. The S2S35 is also able to fire a new generation of 9K25, the 152 mm Krasnopol laser-guided projectile which has a maximum range of 20 km. |
