"Uragan-1M is coming to the troops but in insufficient numbers," he said.
He explained there are problems with contractors of Uragan producer Splav Holding. "There are different problems. Today we discussed with Splav leadership how to resolve the problems of cooperation so that to ensure supplies of salvo fire systems in the necessary volume," Borisov said. The new Uragan-1M will be able to fire original 220mm rockets as well as 300mm rockets designed for BM-27 Smerch, a heavy multiple launcher. In addition, compared with its predecessor, the modernized version will be fully automated, and reloading will be made by a simple substitution of the barrels. The system is designed for striking troops, armor, artillery units, air defense systems, helicopters on heli-pads, destroying fortifications, communications and other infrastructure. The rocket launcher system is mounted at the rear on a MZKT 8x8 military truck chassis. The truck can be fitted with a bank of 6 launch tubes to fire 300mm rockets and a bank of 15 tubes to fire standard 220mm rockets. |
