It was reported earlier that the Russian Armed Forces would receive 70,000 Ratnik outfits annually. "Serial supplies have started. About 80,000 servicemen received Ratnik combat outfits in 2015," Salyukov said.
According to him, Russia has already started to develop third-generation combat gear that will be superior to its advanced foreign analogs. "We have already started to develop a third-generation combat outfit that will be superior to its foreign rivals, considering their projected development to 2025," the commander said. According to him, the new combat gear is expected to enhance soldiers’ mobility owing to the use of exoskeletons and its reduced weight of 20 kilograms. The new ‘soldier of the future’ combat gear can be also used in the Arctic. the Ratnil is a Russian project of Future Soldier program to provide new modern individual gear for Russian soldiers. It is designed to improve the connectivity and combat effectiveness of the Russian Army. Improvements include modernized body armor, helmet with special monitor (eye monitor, thermal, night vision monocular, flashlight), systems of communication and special headphones. The Ratnik combat gear kit includes over 40 components, including firearms, body armor, and optical, communication and navigation devices, as well as life support and power supply systems. It can be augmented with a drone. Russian developers are creating plans for Ratnik-2, a future-soldier gear system, as the successor to Ratnik, its most recent form of advanced combat gear which was completed in 2015. Russian gunmakers are currently developing new small weapons with a larger caliber along with a new machine gun for the Ratnik-2 second generation gear, and also will focus on maximizing the amount of ammunition soldiers carry while remaining mobile. |
