Newest hardware is designed for transporting the personnel and providing fire support to motorized rifle units.

These vehicles are deeply modernized versions of BTR-80 and BTR-80A APCs and exceed almost all capabilities of predecessors. BTR-82AM APCs are fitted with more powerful engine, 30mm gun, coaxial 7.62mm machine gun, modernized observation and aiming equipment.

The firepower of the BTR-82AM is increase by the use of a new unified fighting module with electric drive armed with one 2A72 30mm cannon coupled with a 7.62 mm machine gun.

The layout of the BTR-82AM is very similar to the BTR-80A. The BTR-82AM is more protected than the basic version of BTR-80A. The vehicle is fitted with a reinforced multi-layer floor which provides protection against mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
