"Using a thermal imager, a radar and video cameras, the vehicle ‘keeps an eye’ on the situation within a large radius. Its target acquisition range for materiel and manpower exceeds 10 km. The scout vehicle is capable of data-linking the navigation and intelligence data to command posts and adjacent units and show the data in digital maps," UIC’s press office quotes Deputy Director General Sergei Skokov as saying.

Skokov said the vehicle carried, inter alia, a satellite communications system, a voice/data radio, telephones and videoconferencing equipment.

"The vehicle can execute reconnaissance, command and command and control tasks round the clock and in any weather. It is designed for use both by advancing elements in battle and by the forces providing security and guarding installations in the rear area," the official added.

The Tigr (Russian for tiger) is a high-mobility armored combat vehicle designed for reconnaissance, convoy protection, patrolling and fire support.
