The new protection system incorporates the Forpost all-round radar and the Polyot-1 electro-optical module that can detect moving targets at a distance of up to 20 kilometers (12.4 miles), the spokesman added.

"The system developed by the Vega Enterprise [a subsidiary of the United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation] can detect both ground targets and low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles, which increases the efficiency of such a monitoring system," the spokesman quoted Corporation Deputy CEO Sergei Skokov as saying.

As the spokesman said, the Forpost radar can track more than 100 targets simultaneously and identify "smart intruders", i.e. it can distinguish persons from other moving objects "even if they mask their movements."

The developers are planning to equip the system with an unmanned aerial vehicle to conduct monitoring from the air.
