Russian Federal Security Force presents new 4x4 armoured Zil Karatel code-named The Punisher.
New armoured combat vehicles was presented by the Russian FSB (Federal Security Force) Director Alexander Bortnikov during a visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov personally has presented three new products including the ZiL Karatel armored personnel carrier code-named "The Punisher", the KAMAZ "Viking" armoured vehicle and a 4x4 all-terrain vehicle.
     
     
The presentation of the combat vehicles took place after Putin's annual address at the Federal Security Service Board Meeting, where he assessed the department’s achievements over the previous year.

The "Punisher" was tested for the first time in March 2013 in testing ground near Moscow. The vehicle was especially designed for Russia's security forces to be used in counter-terrorism, border patrol and internal security missions.

Developed by the Russian Company ZiL, the vehicle uses a four-wheeled chassis from a Kamaz-4911 truck. The Punisher can run up to a maximum road speed of 150 km/h with a total weight of 12,000 kg. The vehicle is motorized with a 8 cylinder engine developing 730 hp.

The Punisher provides a ballistic protection against firing of small of 7.62mm caliber. The vehicle can carry a total of 10 military personnel including driver and commander. There is two doors on each side of the hull and one hydraulic ramp at the rear.

The driver and commander are seated at the front of the vehicle near the engine compartment. Six seats are placed back to back along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and two are placed facing backwards in a row between the rear axle.
