According the Russian newspaper Izvestia, the Russian Defense Ministry has already made the decision to purchase the vehicles and is now deciding exactly how many it requires.
The new armored vehicles will be supplied to reconnaissance battalions and special forces brigades, as well as to reconnaissance units of Russian ground forces, where it will serve as a valuable addition to Tigr multipurpose tactical armoured vehicles. "Tigr combat vehicles are more suited for reconnaissance and missions behind enemy lines, while Typhoons will be quite useful in escorting convoys, moving cargo and for urban warfare," said Russian military source. Kamaz-63968 Typhoon is a family of Russian multi-functional, modular, armoured, mine resistant MRAP vehicles designed and manufactured by the Company Kamaz. The Typhoon-K is able to carried a total of 19 military personnel including commander, driver and one gunner. The Kamaz-63968 Typhoon-K can be equipped with a remote weapon station mounted on the top of the crew compartment. This weapon system can be armed with a machine gun up to 14.5 mm calibre. |

Typhoon-U designed and manufactured by Ural Automotive Plant

The Ural-63095 Typhoon also called Typhoon-U was developed by the Russian Defense Company Ural Automotive Plant under a request from the Russian Ministry of Defense, its a new armoured truck personnel carrier which involve also lot of other Russian defense companies.
The Ural-63095 Typhoon-U can be equipped with a remote weapon station mounted on the top of the crew compartment. This weapon system can be armed with a machine gun up to 14.5 mm calibre. The layout of the Ural-63095 Typhoon-U is based on a standard truck, with the engine at the front, crew compartment in the middle with driver, commander and gunner, and the cargo are at the rear which can accommodate 16 troops. |
