At Eurosatory 2016, the international land and airland defence and security exhibition in Paris (France), the Canadian-based Company Streit Group unveils its new 6x6 armoured fighting vehicle (AFV), the Alligator.

The Alligator is a new 6x6 tactical armoured vehicle which can be configured as armoured infantry fighting vehicle (AIFV) or armoured personnel carrier (APC). The vehicle can aslo be configured as command and control platform, forward observation vehicle or in a support convoy role. The Alligator is protected with latest technologies of ballistic and blast armour to ensure crew survivability in the modern battlefield. It offers a protection Level 4 STANAG 4569 (ballistic protection against firing of small arms 14.5×114mm AP / B32 at 200 meters with 911 m/s) and mine protection 10 kg TNT explosion under the wheels. To increase protection, the Alligator can be fitted with ceramic or composite armour plates. At Eurosatory 2016, the Streit Group Alligator was armed with a turret mounted at the center of the hull which is armed with two 12.7mm machine guns. In option, it can be fitted with a remotely weapon station. The Alligator can carried a total of 10 military personnel including driver and commander. The vehicle is motorized with a Cummins ISL 400 6 cylinder in-line turbocharged developing 400 hp at 2,100 rpm coupling to an Allison 3200SP automatic transmission The driver sits at the front of the vehicle on the left with the commander at the rear. The front of the driver position is fitted with a large windscreen and a single door is available at the left side of the hull. The infantry enter and leave the vehicle through a large hydraulically operated ramp at the rear of the hull. There is three small bulletproof windows on each side of the hull. In option, the Alligator can equipped with an amphibious kit, heating system and CBRN filtration system. |
