At Eurosatory 2016, the Boxer was presented with the Rheinmetall LANCE 30mm two-man turret

Also according the Times website, Military officials believe that the collapse of the pound after Brexit will force the British government to delay or cancel projects that are not already on the books.

As a result, the British Ministry of Defence wants to fast-track the purchase of a fleet of up to 800 eight-wheeled infantry vehicles from Germany, according to defence industry sources.

A previous program of the British army, part of the Future Rapid Effects System, fell apart after the MoD and General Dynamics failed to reach an agreement on a contract in 2008 after its Piranha 5 had been nominated as the preferred vehicle.

In September 2015, British army has launched a new program to equip its armed forces with a new 8x8 wheeled infantry fighting vehicle to supply mechanized infantry units.

The contenders were the French Company Nexter with the VBCI, American Company General Dynamics with the Stryker, Finnish Company Patria with its AMV and German Company Rheinmetall/Krauss-Maffei Wegmann with the Boxer.

The Boxer is a German-Dutch multirole armoured fighting vehicle designed to accomplish a number of operations through the use of installable mission modules. It is produced by the ARTEC GmbH (ARmoured vehicle TEChnology) industrial group, and the program is being managed by OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation).

The Boxer vehicles are in service with Netherlands, Germany and Lithuania. On August 22, 2016, OCCAR on behalf of the Republic of Lithuania and ARTEC signed a contract for the procurement of BOXER Infantry Fighting Vehicles.

The Boxer design is based on a modular structure selected to give the maximum flexibility for multipurpose operations. The vehicle incorporates a high level of standardisation and uses commercially proven automotive components.

The Boxer can be fitted with latest generation of modular armour to offer high level of protection gainst ballistic and mine threats.
