This is according to Ukraine's major state-owned arms producer Ukroboronprom. The innovative computer fire control system 'Kashtan' ('Chestnut') is intended for remote control of weapons with target tracking cameras.

What makes 'Kashtan' special is that it is made using electronics of a universal protected computer and microprocessors. The module features all the latest approaches to automated systems of video surveillance and intelligent image processing. As many as possible camcorders of different types can be connected to the system.

The 'Kashtan' system helps monitor targets at a distance of 1,800-8,000 metres during a day, and at a 600-2,000 metre distance at nights. It detects targets, like infantry fighting vehicles, at a distance of 500-4,000 metres within 15 seconds.

The machine-gun and grenade launcher module is designed to attack manpower, vehicles, land and low-flying objects. It can be installed on wheeled and tracked vehicles, as well as stationary objects.
