Army of Israel to acquire 200 FMTV trucks from the American Company Oshkosh Defense.

Israeli Ministry of Defense has announced this week on its official website the acquisition of 200 FMTV (Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles) trucks from the American Company Oshkosh Defense for a value contract of $200 million.

The new FMTV trucks will replace old tactical trucks in service withe the Israeli Defence Forces since 60 years. according Israeli army sorces, the delivery o the trucks will startted in the coming year with a final delivery in 2018.
The FMTV was originally manufactured by Stewart and Stevenson (1996-2006), then by Armor Holdings (2006-2007), then by what is now BAE Systems Platforms & Services until 2011. It is currently manufactured by Oshkosh Defense. The FMTV is a ra family of military trucks available in 4x4 and 6x6 chassis from 2.5 to 10 tons. The FMTV was introduced into U.S. Army service in 1996 to replace obsolete and maintenance-intensive 2.5 ton and 5 ton trucks. In the U.S. army , this trucks is used as cargo carrier, resupply, ammunition resupply, maintenance and recovery, and engineer support missions. The Light Medium Tactical Vehicle has a 2.5 ton capacity (cargo, van, and chassis models) and has a companion trailer. The Medium Tactical Vehicle (MTV) has a 5-ton capacity (cargo, long wheelbase-cargo with and without materiel handling equipment, tractor, van, wrecker, 8.8 ton Load HAndling System, 8.8 ton LHS trailer and 10-ton dump truck models). |
