Rheinmetall's new UGV can be readily equipped for these roles either with customer-specific or Rheinmetall subsystems.
Unmanned systems can operate autonomously, semi-autonomously or in remote control mode. They relieve the pressure on human beings, and are particularly useful in hazardous, high-risk situations. Moreover, when fitted with different equipment kits and subsystems, they can perform in a wide variety of different roles. The Rheinmetall approach to a Multi-Mission Unmanned Ground Vehicle System envisages the use of three basic components: a tried-and-tested robotic multipurpose vehicle platform, into which a subsystem or system of subsystems is integrated in accordance with user requirements, and finally a command centre, where operations can be planned, controlled, analysed and evaluated. The Multi-Mission UGV unveiled by Rheinmetall is base on an 8x8 all-terrain platform, but has also an optionally tracked configuration. It can reach a top speed of 40 km/h. According to the company, its weaponised version can be armed with at least two products “Made in Rheinmetall”: the Qimek and Amarok remote controlled weapon stations. |
