After summer hollidays, Scania will begin to build the different trucks. At this moment, the assembly line of the plant located in Zwolle is being adjusted to produces those new vehicles. It is planned that first deliveries will happen end 2018, and full order to be delivered in 2022. Biggest advantage of this new truck compared to its predecessor is a special frame. This special frame can be fitted with a loading platform, personnel module or container. The container can host a command and control post, communication center, workshops or goods transport.
There is 19 variants of the truck. You can choose to put a crane, a generator or even remotly operated weapon systems if needed. The cab can be replaced by an armored one in really short time. The new engine meets the latest emissions requirements, this engine can run on either jet fuel or inferior quality of diesel which can be easier to find during operations. Lifetime of those new trucks are expected to be 10 years and can be extended to 20 years. Technical support will be delivered by the manufacturer. To keep a high level of army technicians, part of the maintenance will be executed in 6 military workshops. |
