Ukraine will continue to deliver T-84 Oplot tanks to Thailand according signed contract in 2011.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, Ukraine will fully execute the contract signed in 2011 for the supply to Thailand of new Oplot main battle tanks manufactured at Malyshev Plant (Kharkiv), Ukroboronprom state concern has stated. Ukroboronprom Director General Roman Romanov stated the state concern also has enough production capacity to fulfill the order for the deliveries of Oplot armored vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukroboronprom Director General Roman Romanov stated the state concern also has enough production capacity to fulfill the order for the deliveries of Oplot armored vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Oplot MBT was adopted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in May 2009. In 2011, a contract was signed for the delivery of 49 tanks to Thailand and in April 2012 the state-owned Malyshev Factory, began fulfilling the contract.

The first five tanks were shipped to the Thai customer in the beginning of 2014, the second shipment of five armored vehicles arrived in Thailand in mid-2015, the third shipment of 10 vehicles in May 2016, and the fourth shipment consisting of five tanks was sent to Thailand in November 2016.

Thailnad has purchased the MBT Oplot to replace U.S. M-41 tanks bought in the United States in 1957. After problems with Ukraine for the deliver of the Oplot MBTs, Thailand has signed a contract to buy 28 Chinese VT-4 tanks and seeks to boost the supplies in 2017.

The Oplot main battle tank is the result of continued main battle tank development by the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau, which is Ukraine's leading design authority for armoured fighting vehicles.The main armament of the Oplot MBT consits of one stabilised 125mm KBA3 smoothbore gun fed by a carousel-type automatic loader and fitted with a thermal sleeve and fume extractor (bore evacuator).

The VT4 also named MBT-3000 is a new generation of main battle tank designed and manufactured by the Chinese Defense Company NORINCO. The MBT-3000 was unveiled for the first time to the public at the International Defense Exhibition Eurosatory in June 2012.

The main armament of the VT4 consists of 125mm smoothbore gun fitted with a thermal sleeve and fume extractor. It is fed by an automatic loader which holds a total of 22 projectiles and charges which can be loaded at the rate of eight per minute. The MBT-3000 can carry a total of thirty eight rounds of main ammunition.
