DSEI 2019: Turkish Company FNSS to showcase family of wheeled and tracked armored.
The Turkish company FNSS will attend DSEI 2019 which will be held in London, United Kingdom from the 10 to 13 September 2019, to showcase its full range of wheeled and tracked armored and combat vehicles. This year, FNSS celebrates its 30th Anniversary as ‘A World Renowned and Respected Turkish Defence Company’.

FNSS Savunma Sistemleri A.Ş. (FNSS), a joint venture company owned 51 percent by Nurol Holding Inc. and 49 percent by BAE Systems Inc., is a leading manufacturer and supplier of tracked and wheeled armored vehicles and weapon systems for the Turkish and Allied Armed Forces. Starting off by manufacturing Armoured Combat Vehicles in 1988, FNSS has today become a world-class company capable of designing and manufacturing a broad range of land systems, modernizing existing vehicles, and providing the necessary training and integrated logistic support for these systems.

In the tracked combat vehicle area, FNSS has launched the development of the Modern Medium Weight Tank (MMWT) project called Kaplan MT (Medium Tank) to respond to a request of the Indonesia army for a new medium tank. At IDEF 2019, the defense exhibition in Turkey that was held in May 2019, Turkish Company FNSS and Indonesian Company PT PINDAD have signed a contract to start the serial production for medium-weight tank for Indonesian Land Forces dubbed Harimau in Indonesia.
For the wheeled combat vehicles sector, FNSS with the collaboration of the Malaysian Defense Company Deftech have developed the AV8 Gempita, a new amphibious wheeled armored vehicle. In June 2011, the Turkish Company FNSS signed a ‘letter of offer and acceptance’ by DRB-Hicom Defence Technologies (DefTech) for the assistance of design and development of the vehicles. The AV8 vehicle selected by the Malaysian military was based on the technology of FNSS-designed Pars 8×8 multi-purpose, multi-mission, wheeled armoured vehicle.
In April 2014, DefTech announced that the first 12 vehicles would start production in June 2014 and be delivered to the Malaysian Army by end of 2014. In December 2014, the AV8 was officially inducted into service with the Malaysian Army in a ceremony at the DefTech plant in Pekan.
