Nexter, a KNDS company, on July 11, 2019, signed a contract with the Czech Ministry of Defense for the delivery of 62 Titus armored vehicles. Titus is the latest generation of 6x6 armored vehicles designed by Nexter to match the support and transport vehicles needs. Titus mobility chain was developed in cooperation with Czech supplier Tatra Trucks. A “Homeland Security” kit is available, matching more specifically the needs of police and security forces.
Nexter’s Titus offers a high degree of protection, with the ability to withstand a 50kg IED blast, which can be increased with an add-on protection kit. The vehicle has a range of 700 km and is powered by a Cummins 500hp engine that offers a maximum speed of 110 km/h.
Titus and Czech Republic MoD’s order is about 3 variants of Titus: command post (CP), transmissions/signals, and artillery fire coordination post. Eldis (CSG Group), Nexter’s partner for this Czech contract, implements the main contract with the Czech MoD and organizes the licensed local production. This order consecrates a successful European industrial cooperation, combining in a balanced manner the know-how of all involved partners.
The Titus is a 6x6 armored vehicle designed and developed by the French company Nexter Systems based on a Tatra truck chassis. The vehicle was unveiled in September 2013 during the Defense Exhibition DSEI in London, UK.
The Titus was designed based on a modular concept to be configured as an armored personnel carrier, infantry fighting vehicle, combat support, ambulance, and cargo carrier. The Titus can be also used by security or police forces to conduct counter-terrorism or anti-riot operations.
The Titus can be armed with a wide range of weapon stations including a remotely operated weapon station that can be armed with a machine gun or an automatic cannon up to 20mm caliber.
The V-shaped monocoque hull of the TITUS is an all-welded steel armor, offering STANAG 4569 level two protection, with an option to be upgraded to STANAG 4569 level four.
