Oshkosh to deliver JLTVs Joint Light Tactical Vehicles to Lithuania - Macedonia - Brazil.

According to a press release published on December 1, 2020, American company, Oshkosh Defense announced an international contract for the delivery of 59 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) to NATO and non-NATO allies – including Lithuania, North Macedonia, and Brazil.

The Oshkosh Defense JLTVs are already in service with the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and recently the U.S. Air Force as well as Montenegro. It will be entered into service with Lithuania, Slovenia and Belgium, and Brazil. Portugal and the United Kingdom have also shown interest to purchase the JLTV.

The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) is a United States military (specifically U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps) and USSOCOM program launched to replace the Humvee fleet with a new 4x4 armored tactical vehicle.

The Oshkosh Defense JLTV is designed for the future battlefield with reconfiguration capabilities to meet the demands of the Warfighter’s evolving mission requirements. It offers the world’s only light tactical vehicle with the protection, off-road mobility, network capability, and firepower options to maneuver with combat formations.

The Oshkosh JLTV is motorized with a digitally-controlled Gale Banks Engineering 866T V-8 diesel developing 397 hp. at 3,000 rpm, based on the architecture of the General Motors (GM) Duramax. The vehicle uses a fully automatic Allison transmission coupled to an Oshkosh transfer case. It can run at  a maximum road speed of 120 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 480 km. 

The Oshkosh JLTV can be fitted with a wide range of remote-controlled weapon stations or ring mount 7.62 or 12,7mm machine gun. It can be also armed with a compact laser weapon system (CLWS) as well as a remotely operated weapon system armed with automatic cannon up to 30mm caliber.
