Otokar from Turkey signs contract to deliver ARMA 8x8 and Cobra II armored to African country.
According to information published by the Daily Sabah website on October 27, 2020, Turkish Company Otokar has signed a new export contract for the delivery of Arma 8x8 and Cobra II 4x4 tactical wheeled armored vehicles, as well as spare parts and training services to an undisclosed African country.

This is the first export contract for the Otokar Arma 8x8 armored vehicle to an African country. The first vehicles will be delivered in 2021 and will be completed by the end of 2022.
The ARMA 8x8 is fully developed, designed, and manufactured by the Turkish Company Otokar. The development of the vehicle started in 2007 and it was unveiled in 6x6 configuration in 2010 while the 8x8 was revealed in 2011.
The Otokar ARMA 8x8 is a new generation modular multi-wheel armored vehicle with superior tactical and technical features. Thanks to the modularity and highly protected armored monocoque hull design, ARMA 8x8 is a multipurpose platform allowing the integration of various types of mission equipment or weapon systems that can meet the current needs of the modern armies in real battlefield and peacemaking operations.
ARMA family, due to its high payload capacities, allows integration with various types of mission equipment and weapon systems. ARMA supports weapon stations like open cupola, closed turret weapon station, remote control weapon station, medium and high caliber weapon systems.
The Arma has an all-welded steel hull that provides ballistic protection against the firing of 7.62 mm armor-piercing rounds and artillery shell splinters. The vehicle also offers mine protection against mine explosion of 8 kg of TNT. The APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) has a crew of two including driver and commander and can accommodate 10 military personnel.

The Cobra II is the latest generation of 4x4 tactical armored vehicles in the Cobra family also designed and manufactured by the Defense Company Otokar. The Cobra II was unveiled in May 2013 during IDEF, a defense exhibition in Turkey.
The Cobra II has a crew of two including driver and commander and the rear of the vehicle has the capacity to carry seven military personnel. It features a high level of protection against threats from improvised explosive devices, land mines. The vehicle is already in service with the Turkish armed forces.
In option, the Cobra II can be fitted with a remotely operated weapon station armed with a machine gun or a light automatic cannon up to 30mm caliber.
The Cobra II is powered by a 6.7L, six-cylinder, water-cooled, turbocharged, common rail, diesel engine coupled to an automatic gearbox with six forward and one reverse gears. It can reach a maximum road speed of 110 km/h and has a maximum cruising range of 700 km.
