Russia developing new magnetometric bomb detector for engineer units.
Work is currently in progress to develop new explosive device detectors for Russia’s Corps of Engineers, including the Multizond magnetometric bomb detector, the Defense Ministry’s press office said. The Multizond is based on a mobile platform and controlled by an operator.

The Multizond magnetometric bomb detector will complement the range of explosive devices detector means already used by Russian engineer units, among which the 15M107 Listva mine-clearing vehicle on KAMAZ-53269/SBA-60 Listva-BSh base (Pïcture source: Army Recognition)
"The bomb detector demonstrated its effectiveness during field trials. The Multizond comprises a mobile platform, handles, a magnetometric system, a signal processing unit and a console," the press office said.
The bomb detector is designed to detect large ferromagnetic objects underground and in water, in particular, unexploded munitions, landmines and other explosive devices, and carry out humanitarian mine clearance operations and other special missions. The Multizond features a wide coverage, a high monitoring rate and the grid reference capability.
The system can detect F-1 grenades and antipersonnel mines at a depth of 0.7 meters, antitank mines and 155mm projectiles at a depth of 3 meters and 500 kg air bombs at a depth of 6 meters. It can also detect arms caches at a depth of 7 meters. The bomb detector has a weight of 20 kg, a guaranteed range of 2 meters and a search rate of no less than 1.5 m/s.
