During the exercise, the cadets marched on engineering vehicles IMR-3, complying with a set of standards for the installation of engineering barriers, as well as making passages in the rubble. Arriving in a given area, they also worked out remote detonation of various explosive devices using modern weapons. Before the training camp, the cadets passed the test for safety requirements and also worked out all the standards on special simulators. In total, more than 100 cadets of UrFU were involved in the internship. All exercises were performed under the guidance of officers from among the teaching staff of the military training center.
The IMR-3M engineering vehicle for the lining was built on the platform of the T-90 Main Battle Tank. It is designed for engineering support of the advancement of military columns and building tracks. The equipment allows to independently overcome anti-minefield and lay in their passages. The vehicle is equipped with CBRN reconnaissance devices. The IMR-3M is capable of fording up to 5m deep. Weighing 50.8 tons, the vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 50 km/h on land, with a 500km range. The engine is a V-84MS four-stroke multi-fuel diesel developing 840 hp. It is armed with a 12.7-mm NSVT machine gun.
A feature of the BMR-3M is the ability to be remotely controlled from a portable console, or work autonomously after programming an action algorithm for a given route.
In 2016, a contract was signed with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for the supply of such vehicles. The completion of deliveries under this contract was reported in November 2018. At the same time, during the Army-2018 forum, the Russian Defense Ministry signed with Uralvagonzavod a new contract for the supply of engineering vehicles in the BMR-3MA Vepr variant.
